Successful first session of AKV Business+
AKV is running a pilot programme called AKV Business+. We’re hosting people from businesses across Kaikorai Valley over four sessions with the goal of connecting businesses together and to improve the local waterways. Our first session was on a day where Metservice had issued an orange rain warning, but we ended up learning a lot about our water systems anyway!
We hopped in a van and had a tour of the Mt Grand water treatment plant. It was fascinating to learn that our drinking water comes from sources 68km west of Dunedin. Seeing the process that the water goes through to go from stream water to drinking water was really interesting!
The initial plan was to have a tour of key places along the Kaikorai Stream, but instead Simon McMillan delivered an informative session about the history of the Kaikorai catchment.
We hope the businesses involved had a great time, and we’re looking forward to welcoming them again on the 24th of March for session two.
