A Month of Movie Magic!

A Month of Movie Magic!

12th August 2025

Aroha Kaikorai Valley spent July gathering round the fire for five fantastic Thursday night movie sessions — one for every week of the month. A huge thank you to everyone who rugged up, braved the cold, and came along to share the warmth, the popcorn, and the conversation.

We kicked things off with Seven Black Robins and The Black Robin: A Chatham Island Story, telling the remarkable journey of bringing the black robin back from the brink with only five birds left in the world. Mid-month, we enjoyed Grandma, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, following a 60-year-old Northern Royal Albatross at Taiaroa Head. We wrapped up with two episodes of Endangered Species Aotearoa — exploring the Mackenzie Basin and Fiordland, meeting everything from high country survivors to the charismatic kākāpō.

It was a great month of storytelling, conservation inspiration, and community connection — thank you again to everyone who made it such a success!
