AKV Games Night

AKV Games Night

25th March 2025

We had lots of fun on Thursday evening at our games night! We had three different game stations on the go.

In the main foyer we had Menagerie - a card game of collecting groups of native wildlife and putting them in a safe animal habitat.

Another group was in the conference room playing a more complex game called Cloak Of Protection - where you make an array of either forest birds, sea birds, settlement birds or extinct birds, without getting your efforts foiled by pesky predator cards. It was painful being on the cusp of winning, and then picking up a stoat card and having to almost start again.

Finally we had a group upstairs playing Botanical Bingo - players were dealt cards with native plants, and a number on them. Number chits were called out, and the player with that card read out a little information blurb about the associated native plant. The first to have all their cards called out was the Botanical Bingo winner!

At the end we all came together to share our experiences. We learnt how so many of our native plants have medicinal properties! We also learnt about the types of birds we had that are now extinct, like the New Zealand raven.

Overall we just had a fun time, meeting new people and trying something new. We thought it might be fun to host another one in the winter, after dinner, so that there’s more time to try out the other games.

Thanks to everyone who came along. We hope to see you along again at our next meeting on Thursday 10 April!
