Earth Day rubbish cleanup
4th May 2026
Earth Day started in 1970 as a day for people to support the Earth by doing something positive. There are now events held globally each year on the 22nd of April. Aroha Kaikorai Valley ran an Earth Day event to give the Townleys Road track some aroha. The weather was cold, drizzly and a bit miserable, but we still had a good gathering!
We hauled several sacks of rubbish out of the bush and the stream, but we also removed tyres, chairs and other random large pieces of rubbish. We removed weeds along the track, and serviced our predator traps. After our efforts, we gathered back at headquarters for a well-deserved warm cuppa, some snacks and convivial discussion.
Our little patch of the Earth is slightly better off.
