Predator Control Project Update
Plenty of exciting work going on in the background and some wheels starting to turn in the right direction.
Pest Control Plan
Last week Aroha Kaikorai Valley met with City Sanctuary to review the control plan provided by Boffa Miskell. A work in progress and we are nearly ready to sign off on the plan and get things in action. It has been a test of patience with action being affected by covid like everything else! The short story is we are starting with a small contained area to test our method, comms and community engagement. As we go we will refine and make sure we are doing the right thing with clear communication. It was also identified our partnership with City Sanctuary means we often end up in the same area and can help each other as we go, However clear communication will be essential so we do not have mixed messages.
Traps on the way
We have ordered a 100 D-Rat Traps, 25 Mouse traps, 10 DOC 200 traps form Connovation NZ, they are on a truck headed towards the AKV Shed.
Trap Boxes
Two fine Gentlemen from the North Dunedin Shed , Gerard and Chris, delivered 100 trap boxes to the AKV shed. Which is a real shot in the arm to the project. It is a lot of work and materials to put 100 boxes together, so thanks guys and big thanks to City Sanctuary for organising them!
