Water Quality End of Year Meet Up
Last week we held our final monthly meeting of the year. We met at the Kaikorai Valley College urban farm with Simon McMillan who taught us some great methods for measuring water quality.
There were sixteen of us and it was a beautiful evening for it.
We found that the oxygen levels and water temperature were consistent over the different parts of the stream we measured, which suggests that:
Our measuring equipment is working well
There is temperature and oxygen level stability across this area of the stream.
We had a lot of fun dipping rocks into containers full of water and watching all the tiny organisms fall off. There are so many you wouldn’t know were there otherwise, all making up important parts of our ecosystems!
Thanks to all that came, and we hope to see you again in the new year!
